I Thought This Incident Must Be Shared Since It Made Me Feel Proud To Be A Human

I am working in RMZ Ecospace, Bellandur, Bangalore. I live at at Kodlugate. I travel to RMZ Ecospace, Bellandur daily by BMTC buses and because of traffic, I usually leave office late by 9pm or 9:30pm.

One night, On Friday, 6th November, 2015, I luckily got the 505 bus, which goes directly to Kodlugate (or else I have to change buses at Central Silk Board).

A man boarded the bus at Silk board, he caught my attention because he had no hands. The bus was full, but I thought someone would definitely give him a seat, but no one did.

He was standing in the bus, with no hands to hold on to the poles. The man was having a hard time balancing himself, he would fall every time the brakes were applied. I went to the front to see if I can help him, a young man sitting on a seat exactly opposite to the person who was disabled. I requested young man to let him sit there.

The guy saw him and agreed, but the differently abled gentleman’s reaction amazed me. Instead of jumping on the seat like any person would have, he requested an elderly person to sit on the seat that was offered to him. My respect for the man grew, I felt happy having witnessed such a humane deed.

Human being is a real giver when he gives selflessly. This man, who himself needed a seat, offered the seat to another person who needed it more.

Hat’s off to his kindness. I thought this incident must be shared since it made me feel proud to be a human.

I learnt a lot that day, even if we have very little of something with us, sharing a part of it, is humanity.

After Bommanhalli (next stop), he too got a seat.
